Auf Reise Richtung Rente.

Eine Gruppe Spanier, die seit 40 Jahren in Deutschland leben und nun im Ruhestand sind, reist nach Palma de Mallorca. Diese Reise findet im Rahmen des Programms IMSERSO statt, mit dem der spanische Staat Reisen für Rentner subventioniert. Diese Spanier kamen in den 1960er Jahren nach Deutschland, um zu arbeiten. Obwohl ihr Lebensmittelpunkt immer noch in Deutschland ist, sind sie nun auf Rente. Damit ist der Hauptgrund für ihre Auswanderung, die Arbeit, nicht mehr gegeben. Der Film spürt dieser Veränderung in ihrem Leben nach. Dabei werden die Gründe thematisiert, weshalb sie sich zur Auswanderung und dann zum Bleiben in Deutschland entschieden, und warum sie heute, mit der Rente, doch wieder an die Rückkehr denken. Dabei konfrontieren uns diese Lebensgeschichten der Migrationsbewegung der 1960er Jahre von Südeuropa Richtung Norden indirekt mit den gesellschaftspolitischen Auseinandersetzungen über Migration und Integration, die momentan in ganz Europa diskutiert werden. Nicht zuletzt ist Spanien selber von einem Auswanderungs- zu einem Einwanderungsland im Zuge der EU-Integration geworden. Der Film begleitet diese Gruppe Spanier auf ihrer Reise nach Mallorca, der typischen spanischen Ferieninsel für Deutsche. Die Interviews mit ihren Lebensgeschichten vermischen sich mit den Eindrücken ihres Urlaubsaufenthalts in dem Hotel auf Mallorca.

Un grupo de españoles residentes en Alemania desde hace 40 años viaja a Palma de Mallorca de vacaciones con el programa de viajes para mayores del IMSERSO. En los años 60 llegaron, en su mayoría, contratados a Alemania para trabajar, hoy en día están jubilados. El motivo principal que les llevó a emigrar, el trabajo, ya no forma parte central de sus vidas. La película tematiza este gran cambio a raiz de la jubilación. Nos acerca a su vez a los motivos por los que salieron, por los que se quedaron y por los que hoy en día, al entrar en la jubilación, aún muchos piensan en el regreso. Tomando como punto de partida esta emigración española a Alemania nos confronta la película indirectamente con los debates sobre inmigración e integración que en todo Europa se están dando al respecto. La película acompaña a este grupo de españoles en sus vacaciones en esta isla, que es a la vez uno de los destinos turísticos más apreciados por los ciudadanos alemanes. Así las entrevistas y sus testimonios se entremezclan con sus vivencias en un hotel de Mallorca.

A group of Spaniards who live in Germany for over 40 years now go on a trip to the German tourist paradise Palma de Mallorca. Their trip is sponsored by the official Spanish program IMSERSO, which allows cheap holiday trips for Spanish pensioners. The majority of these Spaniards came to Germany in the 1960s for work reasons. Although their main place of residence is still Germany, they are now retired. Their main reason for migration has therefore disappeared. The documentary traces and looks into these changes in their lives. Thereby, the film focuses on why these people decided to emigrate and then decided to stay in Germany. And why they now think about going back again to Spain, being retired. These life stories indirectly confront us with many of those subjects, which are currently debated in Europe in relation to the issues of migration and integration. The film goes along with these Spaniards during their trip to Mallorca from Germany. The interviews about their experiences in relation to migrating and getting retired in a foreign country are intermingled with the impressions of their vacation trip to their original home country.
